A significant number of individuals are suspected to have lost their lives when a passenger bus veered off the road and tumbled into a steep ravine in the Assar area of Doda district on Wednesday morning.
Thirty three people were killed dead and at least 22 others injured when a bus they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into gorge in Assar Doda.
Official sources told that so far 33 fatalities have been confirmed and 22 others are injured in the accident involving bus bearing number Jk02CN-6555.
Soon after the accident, locals and authorities started massive rescue operations.
An official stated that the bus veered off the road, tumbling into a deep gorge in the Assar area this morning.
He mentioned that immediately after the incident, a rescue team hurried to the scene. “Multiple casualties are feared, the rescue operation is ongoing, and details will be provided accordingly,” he said.
Several feared dead in a road accident in JK’s Doda after the bus carrying 40 passengers bearing registration number JK02CN-6555 skidded off the road near Trungal - Assar on Batote-Kishtwar National Highway and fell 300 feet downhill.
