Mastung, Balochistan - In a tragic turn of events, a suicide blast near the Madina Mosque in Pakistan’s Mastung district, Balochistan province, resulted in the loss of 52 lives and left over 50 individuals injured on Friday. The incident occurred during a gathering commemorating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, known as Eid Milad un Nabi.

Among the victims was Mastung DSP Nawaz Gashkori, who was on duty for the rally. Reports confirm that the explosion, officially classified as a "suicide blast," transpired when the assailant detonated himself in close proximity to the DSP’s vehicle, according to City SHO Mohammad Javed Lehri.

Following the explosion, local hospitals swiftly declared an emergency response and facilitated the immediate transfer of the injured to medical facilities. Dr. Saeed Mirwani, the CEO of Shaheed Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital, stated that several of the wounded were in critical condition.

Balochistan’s interim Information minister, Jan Achakzai, expressed his deepest condolences and announced the dispatch of rescue teams to Mastung. He stressed the crucial importance of upholding religious tolerance and peace in the region, condemning the attack as an attempt to undermine these fundamental principles. Additionally, Achakzai revealed that caretaker Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki had issued directives to apprehend those responsible for the devastating blast.

Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti echoed the condemnation of the attack, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Balochistan, a province in southwestern Pakistan, has long grappled with security challenges, and this incident highlights the urgent need for sustained efforts to secure peace and stability in the region.
